Red and yellow and orange, oh my!

Today I went to an ol’ favorite garden, one that’s like comfort food.  I’ve been going to Brookside Gardens since I was about 3 feet tall.  Fall color was the order of the day, and Brookside had it in spades…

Brookside is in Wheaton, Maryland, a Washington DC suburb.  Wanna know more? Here’s what they say about themselves:

Brookside Gardens is Montgomery County [Maryland]‘s incomparable, award-winning 50-acre public display garden situated within Wheaton Regional Park. Included in the gardens are several distinct areas: Aquatic Garden, Azalea Garden, Butterfly Garden, Children’s Garden, Rose Garden, Japanese Style Garden, Trial Garden, Rain Garden and the Woodland Walk. The Formal Gardens areas include a Perennial Garden, Yew Garden, the Maple Terrace, and Fragrance Garden. Brookside Gardens also feature two conservatories for year-round enjoyment. Admission is free.

There’s a really cute children’s garden near the visitor’s center; those pictures will be in another post.  Brookside also has a  swanky nature center.  Brookside’s next door neighbor is Wheaton Regional park which has a playground, train and carousel.  Enjoy.

This post was inspired in part by The Fall Color Project at the Home Garden.

I love the understory panorama of the bald cypress. I would totally hang a print of that on my wall…in case you were thinking of a Xmas present…for me…already.
