Species information:
Our goal is to be a resource for detailed plant information, including species characteristics, descriptions, cultivation guidelines, county level maps of native distribution, and more. We are constantly adding new species to our database, and certain details might not be immediately available. Check in with us regularly. Our focus is on quality and accuracy, not quantity.
Purchasing plants:
All species on this website are available for purchase, while supplies last. Our plants are provided by nurseries dedicated to responsibly collecting and propagating native species. To reduce our carbon footprint and reduce transit times, we will always try to find the supplier nearest to the plant’s final destination. Currently all our nurseries are in the Mid-Atlantic region, but that too is expanding. Please purchase plants responsibly; species native to one region can be invasive in another. Whenever available, we provide information regarding this issue.
Exploring plants:
We provide several ways for you find the perfect plant for that special spot in your garden. You can use our exclusive Map Search, browse by plant categories, view our botanical name plant list or browse the entire catalog. Whatever method you chose, you will be able to refine your search by filtering for specific plant attributes. Know what you’re looking for? Use the search box at the top of every page and enter a species name, genus, or common name.
Sharing with the community:
Each species details page offers you the opportunity to share your thoughts, comments and observations about that species, as well as the opportunity to share your own photos of that species or how you incorporated in to your garden. While everyone will be able to view this content, only members will be able to upload it. Become a member and share your passion with others!
