Description "Named for the son of Georgia plantsman and garden designer Jean Cline. This is the ticket as far as mildew resistant Monardas. Wonderfully aromatic foliage and stems with enormous red tubular flowers from June to August. A Saul Nursery introduction. Cherished by butterflies and hummingbirds. Also makes an excellent cut flower!" -- North Creek Nurseries
Cultivation Best grown in fertile, well-drained soil, under full to part-sun. Establish plants are tolerant of mild dry spells. Although its resistance to powdery mildew is superior to that of the straight species, it is not immune to the disease. Good air circulation will be important, and if supplemental watering is needed, it is best to do so close to the ground.
Note: Early spring shipments might include plants that have not yet broken dormancy, or have not been vernalized and will be frost-tender. Please use your best judgment when selecting your preferred ship week.
