Description

Enemion biternatum

Also known as:

eastern false rue anemone

,

false rue-anemone

Scientific Synonyms:

Isopyrum biternatum

Description

Enemion biternatum forms dense colonies that produce attractive white flowers in early spring. It is difficult to distinguish from rue anemone (Anemonella thalictroides), which has whorled leaves.

Cultivation

Enemion biternatum is an early spring woodland bloomer. It prefers loamy soil rich in organic material, moist to mesic conditions, and filtered light.

Best planted in groups, where it will be able to colonize, creating dense mats of white flowers in spring, and a beautifully texture ground cover through summer, at which point the foliage will die back only to come back for a second flush in early fall.
