FAQ

Are any of the plants you sell wild collected?

None of our plants are wild collected. All of our nurseries and growers are committed to using the best horticultural practices. All of our plants are nursery propagated, from seed or stock that has been ethically collected.

Do you use neonicotinoids on your plants?

We do not. Treating our plants with neonicotinoids would be against our environmental mission.

What are bare-root plants?

Bare-roots are plants harvested and shipped while dormant. All soil has been removed from the roots, and they are typically packaged in peat moss, or sphagnum moss.

How do I handle bare-root plants?

- All bare-root plants should be planted immediately upon receipt.

- If you cannot do so, you may store them for up to a week in your refrigerator crisper drawer, in their original sealed packaging.

- When ready to plant we recommend that you soak them in water for an hour before putting them in soil.

- You may plant them directly in the garden, or grow them out in pots for additional control over light conditions and soil moisture while the plants break out of dormancy.

Can you account for provenance?

We can for most of our species, upon request. We use our best judgement, based on the destination of your order, to supply plants from the appropriate ecoregion.
