Description

Sedum ternatum

Also known as:

woodland stonecrop

,

wild stonecrop

Scientific Synonyms:

Clausenellia ternata

Description

Sedum ternatum forms an attractive low-growing ground cover of whorled, green, succulent leaves. When in bloom, the abundant, attractive, fragrant, white star-shaped flowers seem to be sprinkled upon the colony.

Cultivation

More shade tolerant than most sedums, it enjoys average, well drained soil in bright to filtered light. It can be grown in full sun with adequate moisture. The creeping branches easily self root during the growing season if broken off. A low maintenance plant, excellent ground cover and filler plant for a perennial flower bed. It spreads both vegetatively and by seed, but is not aggressive. The blooming period lasts about a month, beginning mid to late-spring. Zones 5-7

Propagation

Best propagated by division or cuttings made any time during the growing season.
