Cultivation

Easy to grow in average to poor soil, in full sun to part shade. It can spread aggressively by seed and suckers, forming dense, impenetrable thickets. Can be used to create an effective barrier. Its sharp thorns make it ill suited as a hedge plant near foot traffic. Blooms in April, May. Zones 3-8
