Description "This lovely cultivar of Deschampsia cespitosa shares many attributes with the species: clump growing, semi evergreen, fine textured leaves, and thin stems topped with sprays of airy delicate flowers. However, Deschampsia cespitosa ‘Goldtau’ has a golden twist. It blooms in color. Seed heads emerge from dark green stems in an explosion of chartreuse-yellow, eventually changing to bronze. They remain handsome in winter landscapes and deliver a knock-out punch to cut-flower arrangements. When planted in masses or contrasted in gardens with sedges or ferns, Deschampsia cespitosa ‘Goldtau’ adds dimension, texture, and a breezy quality. Deschampsia cespitosa performs best and flowers most in cooler climates. In warmer climates, it needs semi-shade and moist conditions, and flower production may be greatly reduced." -- Hoffman Nursery
Cultivation Plant in moist but well-drained, humus-rich soil in partial sun or light shade. Prefers acidic conditions. 'Goldtau' can tolerate hot conditions with ample water.
Note: Early spring shipments might include plants that have not yet broken dormancy, or have not been vernalized and will be frost-tender. Please use your best judgment when selecting your preferred ship week.
